Wildlife | Nenthead Arts & Visitors Centre

A great place for bird watchers

We can be guilty of taking our wildlife for granted. The skies around Nenthead are home to many native birds – oyster catchers, lapwings, curlews, wheatears, barnacle geese, owls and many more who fill the skies overhead. We also have a host of gamebirds all year round.

Nearby the famous Black Grouse Lek can be spotted in May, if you are up early enough, the why not pop into the centre for a Plumbums breakfast!

Red Squirrels are a common sighting in the area as are deer and hare .
